“Heave Ho! Watch it go! This heaviness upon your soul! Heave Ho! Watch it go! This heaviness upon your soul!”
I was blessed to be a part of a praying group during the lockdowns. We would gather in an Upper Room to seek the Lord. We worshipped and sat in silence together asking Him to speak to us about what was on His heart. And we shared with one another as the Spirit led. The revelations were profound and sustaining! It was one of the safest and most comforting environments I’ve ever encountered in my life.
One evening during our quiet time, I kept hearing the words heave and heaving and I knew the Lord was speaking a nautical theme to me. As I began to look up the meaning of the word heave, I saw a vision.
The Vision
In the vision, I saw a dark night. The darkness was so black and thick that it had a substance and a heaviness to it and I felt it in my soul. All of a sudden, a beam of light cut through the darkness like a beacon of hope! It was so powerful that nothing could stop it and it shone with the powerful intensity of a searchlight on a rescue mission. I knew it was my Heavenly Father searching for me in the deep places.
I then saw a ship floating in the black waters and I knew it represented me and my life. The searchlight from heaven combed through the waters until it located my ship in the darkness. The light went into the door and down to the deep parts of the ship where the rooms had hidden cargo locked away. It effortlessly unlocked doors and found heavy wooden crates within.
I then saw Jesus on the deck and He was throwing these wooden crates overboard, while joyfully shouting, “Heave Ho! Watch it go! This heaviness upon your soul! Heave Ho! Watch it go! This heaviness upon your soul!” He was lightening my load! I watched him for a moment before realizing that I could join Him in His work. I stepped up to the other side of the crates and together we began heaving heavy burdens into the sea together! ~End Vision~
A Visual for All of Us
I believe this visual is for all of us to lay claim to. We all have heavy burdens we’ve been carrying that He’d like to see thrown overboard like the casting of our cares upon Him. Many of us have things locked away that we need to be rid of so we can find joy in the deep places.
Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. 1 Peter 5:7 AMPC
"Behold, God, my salvation! I will trust and not be afraid, for the Lord God is my strength and song; yes, He has become my salvation. Therefore with joy will you draw water from the wells of salvation." Isaiah 12:2-3 AMPC
His Faithful Work
The work of the Lord Jesus is one of restoration. He has intentionality towards us and plans to do us good. He is relentless in His pursuit of us and unendingly faithful and kind. If things that you’d rather not look at are coming to the surface, let them come. In His attempt to make you whole, He is dealing with deep hurts, past wrongs, old regrets and failures and He is REDEEMING them. He is REDEEMING you!
I’m so grateful He sought me out on that dark night. Where would I be without Jesus? Friends, as you ponder these things in your heart today, let Him in to the deep places and do the work of healing. And may you know that your Redeemer lives!
