A few years ago I began to have a fondness for the color green. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I never liked green but it was just another color in the rainbow to me. My favorite color is blue. However, my affinity for the color green began to grow. A soft pale green, pastel in nature. It reminded me of the color of Daquiriy ice cream my friend Wendy used to love at Baskin Robbins when we were children.
As I became increasingly aware of green and it’s existence all around me, I began to ask the Lord what the significance of this was. After all, He created color and His creation resounds throughout all the world and communicates to us in many varied and multifaceted ways.
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows and proclaims His handiwork. Day after day pours forth speech, and night after night shows forth knowledge. There is no speech nor spoken word [from the stars]; their voice is not heard. Yet their voice [in evidence] goes out through all the earth, their sayings to the end of the world. Psalm 19:1-4a AMPC
He answered and told me that this soft green represented gentleness. My need for His gentleness in my life and His desire and ability to provide it. My thoughts turned to the Psalmist in Chapter 18 who says, “Your gentleness has made me great.” Selah.
After awhile He began to tell me that green also represents growth. I could see it in the world all around me from the grasses that grow to the leaves that give life, and the tendrils of plants beginning to push through the soil and come up as seedlings. I could sense that I was growing in His soil and He was growing something good inside of me.
Eventually He told me that green means GO! And that made me laugh because it’s so obvious but I didn’t see it until He said it straight to my heart. I saw a traffic light switch to vibrant green and felt His nudge to move forward with Him. I gave Him my yes and we embarked on a journey. This is where the story of EncouragemeantSays begins.
It’s Springtime and I can’t think of a better time to launch. From gentleness, to growth to GO (and beyond!), EncouragemeantSays is a living testimony to God’s goodness and faithfulness. It is an offering of obedience and my endeavor to partner with and create alongside Him. It has been a dream growing in my heart and now is the time for fruition.
